| Housing Support Is a new service which has been provided by Ayr Action for Mental Health since November 2002. It complements our Day Centre and Advocacy support services. We are funded through South Ayrshire Council's Supporting People Grant. As our aim is to help people back into an independent life, Housing Support can be provided for as long (or short) a period as necessary. What do we do? Our main aims are to:-
We do this in a number of ways, for example:- Assistance with budgeting, arranging appointments, help in using domestic equipment, encouragement to keep house safe and secure, help with shopping, encouraging personal and home hygiene, development of social skills and much more.... We work in a flexible manner and try as far as possible to support people when they wish, for instance days, evenings, weekends or accompanying people to appointments. What we don't do We don't help with personal care i.e. bathing and dressing We don't offer clinical support or deal with medication We don't provide counselling We don't do things for people, we support and encourage them to increasingly do for themselves
People with a mental health problem, living In South Ayrshire. The service Is available to those who hold a tenancy, whether with South Ayrshire Council, a Housing Association (Registered Social Landlord) or a Private Landlord), either on their own or with a family. How much does it cost? A financial assessment will be carried out by the Social
Work Department to ascertain whether a charge will be applicable. Some
people do not pay, a few pay a small amount. Who do I get in touch with? Your Social Worker if you have one, or any member of the Housing Support Team. The housing support team are: Manager - Billy McLeod Housing support workers
